for Jazz Lovers
(and all music lovers).”
featuring the Paul Keller ensemble:
Sunday, November 20 @ 5 - & PM
GQ Jazz Ensemble is a dynamic small jazz group made up of Trumpet, Sax, Piano, Bass and Drums that plays standards with a large list of songs that have long been popular. This group strives to be fun, exciting, but not over bearing. We also have dynamic vocalists to add another level of entertainment to our performances. We perform regularly on Thursdays at Jager's Castle Rock in Clinton Twp, visit www.GGMusicEntertainment.com for our Calendar.
Gary Greenfelder (Trumpet and Leader), started playing jazz in junior high school with a group of friends from concert band, in an after school band. We ended up being allowed to perform at school concerts, without any input from the school band director. What fun that was! In high school he got his first opportunity to play in a big band setting and found that he really enjoyed this, especially playing lead trumpet! Now Gary really enjoys playing in the small group setting for the freedom it provides in being musically expressive!!
Eric Lundquist (SAXOPHONE) while play tenor in Gary Greenfelder Orchestra, Eric has always enjoyed playing small group jazz in GQ Jazz Ensemble. He started playing music this way before ever playing with a big band which he also enjoys! Small group jazz allows one more room to stretch out musically and puts more emphasis on soloing.
Duncan Jones (PIANO) Born in 1946 in San Francisco, California to Margaret and Norm "Stompy" Jones. "Stompy" played boogie-woogie piano through college to earn extra cash. His playing led to Duncan's interest in jazz piano. Duncan studied music at DePauw University, majoring in composition. He began teaching public school vocal music in 1969. He has taught in Bloomfield Hills, Dearborn Heights, and Plymouth-Canton schools. Duncan plays jazz piano with a number of bands in the Detroit area.
John Dana (BASS) is also a member for the Gary Greenfelder Orchestra has an extensive career in the jazz scene both locally, as well as in NYC and beyond. John’s list of accomplishments is far too long to scribe here, but needless to say, he’s travelled the world with many of the talented groups of the small jazz variety, and beyond! John became very active in the Detroit music scene during the 60s and 70s before leaving for NY with Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers
Don DiPace (DRUMS) along with being a drummer/percussionist Don is also an actor in commercials, TV and film and is a council member for the Screen Actors Guild Detroit Branch. He also was a product specialist for Buick travelling the Auto Show circuit.
Jennifer Jones (VOCALS) as been performing in various venues in and around the tri-county area for many years. She has held leading roles in many theatrical productions...too many to name! Performing for a classroom of second graders by day, she looks forward to performing on stage at night! Jennifer is happily married to her wonderful and supportive husband Carl. She loves performing with "the band" Gary Greenfelder Orchestra and GQ Jazz Ensemble!

Artistry In Rhythm Orchestra
Tribute to Stan Kenton
The Artistry In Rhythm orchestra, under the direction of lead alto saxophonist Eric Lundquist, is not attempting to emulate the Stan Kenton Orchestra, but instead, is trying to carry on his tradition of dedication to creative big band jazz music.
The band performs some of the well known music of the big band jazz idiom as presented by Mr.Kenton's orchestra, while keeping with Stan's insistence on not just performing nolstalgic type music.
